araya komai is a non-binary fijian-american artist born and raised in san diego, california. their journey started when moving to australia where they began to explore sound
in september of 2024 araya learned how to dj on pioneer 3000s through the in-the-mix , a dj residency program in mparntwe (alice springs, australia) that focused on empowering women and gender-diverse folks in the music industry. araya opened for sleep d a month later at desert fest ’24
two months after, araya learned ableton at a music production residency, sounds different, in bali nov ’24. it was during this residency araya found their expression as a sound artist, this program nurtured individual sound vs manufacturing a set of rules to follow. the mentors and participants became araya’s sound eco-system
